How to play Fiendish Friends
Fiendish Friends pays three or more matching symbols along any of its 15 fixed paylines on a 5×5 grid. The square layout gives the lines room to cross the board in several directions, which is useful once a large wild appears.
Stake gives a minimum stake of 0.01 per spin. Slot databases disagree on the top bet, with figures of 200 and 1,000, so check the bet panel in the game. Gem symbols sit alongside the monster characters on the reels.
Three special symbols run the game: the Bonus symbol that opens free spins, the Lightning symbol, and the Expanded Wild that Lightning feeds.
Fiendish Friends features explained
The Expanded Wild is the core of the slot. It substitutes for every paying symbol and grows in square steps.
- Expanded Wild: starts at 2×2 and grows to 3×3, then 4×4, and finally fills the whole 5×5 grid.
- Lightning: each Lightning symbol pushes the Expanded Wild up a size. In the stronger modes, every Lightning also carries a guaranteed minimum value.
- Global multiplier: a multiplier that applies to wins and, in free spins, carries over from one spin to the next.
- Bonus symbols: do not substitute, and do not land during Awakening spins.
The growth path is easy to follow. A 2×2 wild covers four cells and touches only some lines, while a 5×5 wild turns the entire grid wild and pays every line at once. Each Lightning strike is therefore a visible step towards the slot's biggest outcome.
Fiendish Friends free spins and bonus modes
Bonus symbols open three free spins modes, and the size of the Expanded Wild, the grave count and the global multiplier all carry over between spins inside a round. That persistence is what turns a slow start into a strong finish.
- Bonus (3 Bonus symbols): 10 free spins.
- Super (4 Bonus symbols): 10 free spins, and every Lightning is worth at least 5x.
- Epic (5 Bonus symbols): every Lightning is worth at least 10x, and the Expanded Wild is already at 2×2 from the first spin.
Two single-spin features sit outside the free spins. Awakening starts with a 2×2 Expanded Wild and guarantees at least one Lightning, and Special X works the same way with every Lightning worth at least 5x.
If a round reaches the 25,000x max win, it ends at once and any remaining free spins are lost. The sources do not explain what the grave count does, beyond the fact that it carries over between spins.
Fiendish Friends bonus buy options
Stake lists Fiendish Friends among its bonus buy games. The menu covers a side bet, two feature spins and three bonus routes. Prices come from BonusTiime's breakdown of the menu.
| Option | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Hunt | Varies across 20 levels | Higher bonus hit rate; higher levels cost more per spin |
| Bonus | 100x bet | 10 free spins in the Bonus mode |
| Awakening (Special) | 250x bet | One spin with a 2×2 Expanded Wild and at least one Lightning |
| Super | 300x bet | 10 free spins in the Super mode |
| Mystery | 500x bet | 40% Super, 10% Epic, 50% a single losing spin |
| Special X | 1,000x bet | Awakening with every Lightning worth at least 5x |
The 100x Bonus buy is standard pricing, and the 300x Super buy is a fair step up for the 5x Lightning floor. The Mystery buy is the only way to purchase a chance at Epic, but half the time it returns a single losing spin, so on average you pay 1,000x for each bonus it produces.
The 20-level Hunt is unusual and gives fine control over how much extra you pay per spin. Whichever option you use, bonus buys and Hunt levels raise the cost per round considerably and do not improve your long-run odds.
Fiendish Friends RTP, volatility and max win
The Fiendish Friends RTP is 96.00%, a 4.00% house edge, which is about the industry average. Stake, Slotcatalog and BonusTiime all agree.
Stake and Slotcatalog both describe the volatility as medium to high, while BonusTiime calls it high. The game's own intro screen shows a volatility meter with four of five gems lit, which fits either reading. We use medium-high. The carry-over rules in free spins help here, since a round can build gradually rather than relying on one lucky spin.
The maximum win is 25,000x the bet, confirmed by every source and printed on the game's intro screen. Stake.us ran a community challenge on the game in October 2026 for the first player to hit 5,000x, which gives a sense of what counts as a big result in practice.
Theme and design
The art takes a light approach to Halloween: cartoon monsters, a dark graveyard, a looming castle and glowing gems. It is closer to a family animated film than to horror, which makes it a friendlier pick than most spooky slots.
The growing wild gives the screen a clear focus. We found no review that describes the sound, so our design score is based on the visuals.
Fiendish Friends demo and who it suits
A Fiendish Friends demo is available on BonusTiime, and Stake's game page normally offers free play for its Stake Engine titles. Use it to see how often Lightning lands and how far the Expanded Wild tends to grow.
The slot suits players who want a clear, visual feature with a decent ceiling, and who prefer a medium-high risk level to the extreme swings of many Stake exclusives. The 100x and 300x buys are fairly priced for bonus buyers.
It is less suited to players who chase the very biggest caps, since 25,000x is half the 50,000x cap of several other recent Stake exclusives, and the 96.00% RTP is only average.
Our verdict on Fiendish Friends
Fiendish Friends is an easy slot to understand and an enjoyable one to watch. The Expanded Wild grows in clear steps, Lightning gives each spin a visible purpose, and the carry-over rules make free spins feel like a build rather than ten separate spins.
The numbers are middle of the road. A 96.00% RTP and a 25,000x cap are fair rather than strong, and the Mystery buy fails half the time. The 100x and 300x buys are reasonably priced, though, and the 20-level Hunt is a thoughtful touch. It is a solid medium-high risk choice with a friendly theme.
Overall = 7.0×0.25 + 7.5×0.25 + 8.0×0.2 + 7.0×0.15 + 6.5×0.15 = 7.3. The score rates the game, not your odds of winning.
