Moonlight Princess slot review
Moonlight Princess is a Pragmatic Play slot that you can only play at Stake, and it went straight to the top of the casino's New Releases list. It uses an anime look, a 6×5 scatter-pays grid, tumbling wins and multiplier symbols worth up to 500x. Stake runs it at an Enhanced RTP of 98.00%, which is well above what most new releases offer.

How to play Moonlight Princess
Moonlight Princess plays on a 6×5 grid with no paylines. Any symbol that lands eight or more times anywhere on the screen pays, so position does not matter and you are simply counting matches. Lower-value gems and higher-value character symbols make up the paytable, with the princess herself acting as the scatter.
Every win triggers a tumble. The paying symbols are removed, the ones above drop down, and new symbols fill the gaps. If that creates another win, the process repeats, and there is no cap on how many tumbles can chain together from a single paid spin.
To start, set your stake, choose a volatility setting if you want to change the default, and spin. You can also switch on the Ante Bet before spinning, or skip the base game entirely and buy the free spins round. We cover both options in detail below.
Moonlight Princess features explained
The core of the game is a small set of features that work together. None of them is new on its own, but the combination is a proven one, and the higher RTP on Stake changes how it feels over a session.
- Tumble wins: Winning symbols disappear and the grid refills from above, giving one paid spin the chance to produce several wins in a row.
- Multiplier symbols: Orb-style multipliers worth between 2x and 500x can land on any spin or tumble, in both the base game and the bonus. They do nothing on a dead spin, so their value depends on a win landing in the same sequence.
- Volatility Switch: Stake tags the game with a Volatility Switch, which lets you pick a different risk profile for the same game. The exact settings and their effect on hit rate and max win were not published when we wrote this review.
- Ante Bet: An optional side setting that raises your cost per spin and makes scatters more common.
- Buy Free Spins: A one-click purchase of the bonus round from the base game.
In the base game, the multipliers collected during a tumble sequence are added together once the tumbles end and applied to the total win of that sequence. That means two modest multipliers on a long chain can matter more than a single large one on a small hit.
If the layout sounds familiar, it should. The reported rules follow the same template as Pragmatic Play's Starlight Princess, one of the provider's best-known games. Moonlight Princess changes the art and adds the Volatility Switch, but players who know the original will feel at home within a few spins.
Free spins and bonus games
Four or more princess scatters anywhere on the grid trigger the free spins round, which starts with 15 spins. Landing three or more scatters during the round adds five extra spins, and this can happen more than once.
The key difference from the base game is how multipliers behave. During free spins, every multiplier that lands on a winning sequence is added to a running total that stays for the rest of the round. Once that total is in place, each later multiplier win is boosted by the full accumulated figure, so a round that builds a large total early can grow quickly.
The flip side is that a round without early multipliers often ends close to its cost or below it. The game's ceiling is set by how far that running multiplier climbs, not by any single spin, which is why the bonus can feel uneven from one trigger to the next.
Moonlight Princess bonus buy and ante bet
| Option | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Buy Free Spins | 100× bet | Starts the 15-spin free spins round straight away |
| Ante Bet | 1.25× bet per spin | Roughly double the natural chance of triggering free spins, with more scatters on the reels; the bonus buy is disabled while it is on |
At a 100x price, the Moonlight Princess bonus buy is on the cheaper end for a Pragmatic Play game. On a $1 stake each purchase costs $100, and on $0.50 it costs $50. That is a meaningful amount per round, and a single buy can return a small fraction of its price, so budget for several buys rather than one if you choose this route.
The Ante Bet is the gentler option. It raises your cost per spin by a quarter in exchange for more frequent triggers, which suits players who like the base game but want the bonus to show up a little more often. Both options raise what you spend per round, so set a limit before you start.
The separate RTP of the bonus buy has not been published. Some games run their buy feature at a slightly different RTP than the base game, so check the in-game rules on Stake before relying on the 98.00% figure for purchased rounds.
Moonlight Princess RTP, volatility and max win
The Moonlight Princess RTP on Stake is 98.00%, and the game sits in Stake's Enhanced RTP group. That figure is about 1.5 percentage points above the 96.50% that Starlight Princess runs at by default. Over a long session, that means the expected cost of play is roughly 2% of the total amount you stake, compared with about 3.5% on a typical 96.5% game. It does not make any single session more likely to end in profit, because short-term results are dominated by variance.
We could not find a standard RTP for this game outside Stake. As a Stake exclusive, it may only exist in the enhanced version, so we have left the standard figure blank until Pragmatic Play or the in-game rules confirm it.
Slot databases list the volatility as medium, which most likely describes the default setting. The Volatility Switch suggests at least one higher-risk mode is available, and its details are still unconfirmed.
The Moonlight Princess max win is listed at 5,000x your stake. That is a modest cap by 2026 standards, where many new releases advertise 10,000x or more. The upside is that a 5,000x cap on a medium volatility game is more reachable than a much larger cap on a very high volatility one.
Is there a Moonlight Princess demo?
Stake lets you open its games in a free play mode once you are signed in, and that is the most reliable way to try a Moonlight Princess demo. Because the game is a Stake exclusive, you are unlikely to find it on independent demo sites, and listings that do appear may belong to a different game.
One point to watch: Stake also hosts an unrelated Moonlight Princess from Sakura Studios, a 7×7 cluster-pays game released in 2025. Check that the provider shown is Pragmatic Play before you judge the game by its demo.
Who Moonlight Princess suits
This game suits players who enjoy tumble slots with stacking multipliers and want the best possible return on their stake. The 98.00% RTP on Stake is the main reason to choose it over the many similar games in Pragmatic Play's catalogue.
It is a weaker fit if you are chasing a very large top prize, since the 5,000x cap is lower than many recent releases. Players looking for a new mechanic will also find little here, as the structure closely follows a game that has been around for years. If you want a familiar, well-understood formula at a better price, it is one of the stronger new options on Stake.
Our verdict on Moonlight Princess
Moonlight Princess is not an original game in its design. It follows the scatter-pays, tumble and multiplier formula that Pragmatic Play has used many times, and it adds a new anime theme and a Volatility Switch. What sets it apart is the 98.00% RTP on Stake, which makes it one of the cheaper ways to play this style of slot over time.
The 5,000x max win and the shortage of official documentation hold it back. Until Pragmatic Play publishes full rules, the Volatility Switch settings, bet limits and standard RTP remain open questions. For players who already like Starlight Princess and want better long-run value, it is worth a look, as long as you treat the bonus buy as a costly option rather than a shortcut.
Overall = 8.8×0.25 + 6.5×0.25 + 6.0×0.2 + 6.5×0.15 + 7.5×0.15 = 7.1. The score rates the game, not your odds of winning.

Not confirmed: Standard RTP: not published anywhere we could find; Pragmatic Play's site has no page for the game. Only Stake's Enhanced 98.00% figure is confirmed. Volatility Switch: Stake tags the game with it, but no source describes the available settings or how they change RTP, hit rate or max win. The 'Medium' volatility comes from slotcatalog and bonustiime and likely refers to the default mode. Bet range: slotcatalog lists 0.20 to 240, bonustiime lists 0.10 to 1,000. Left null until confirmed in the game. Release date: slotcatalog gives an approximate 2026-10-15, bonustiime gives 2026-10-19. Left null. Ante Bet cost (1.25x), free spins retrigger (+5 for 3+ scatters) and the 2x-500x multiplier range come from bonustiime only; slotcatalog confirms 15 free spins from 4+ scatters, the 100x buy and the 5,000x max win. Multiplier rules: bonustiime's description is internally inconsistent; we used the Starlight Princess-style rule (base game multipliers sum at the end of a tumble sequence, free spins multipliers accumulate for the round). Both databases' rule text closely matches Starlight Princess, so some details may be templated rather than checked against the live game. Name clash: Stake also lists an unrelated Moonlight Princess by Sakura Studios (7x7 cluster pays, 2025, about 10,000x max win, 96.05% RTP).
