How to play Conductor of Death

The Conductor of Death slot runs on six reels and five rows. Five or more matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically form a cluster win. Winning symbols are removed, the rest drop down and new symbols fill the gaps, so wins can chain through several cascades in one spin.

The minimum bet is 0.10. Sources disagree on the maximum, with figures from 100 to 2,000, so check the bet panel in the game.

The game's personality comes from one symbol, the Note Wild. On most spins Notes appear, may or may not join a cluster, and vanish when the spin ends. The spins that matter are the ones where a Note sits out several cascades and then lands in a win with a much bigger multiplier than it started with.

Conductor of Death Note Wilds explained

Note Wilds substitute for every paying symbol and always carry a multiplier. The rules are short, but they combine in interesting ways:

  • Doubling: a Note starts at x5. Each time a paying cascade happens without it, its multiplier doubles, to x10, x20, x40 and so on.
  • Joining a win: when a Note becomes part of a cluster, it multiplies that cluster's payout.
  • Several Notes: if more than one Note sits in the same cluster, their multipliers are added together, so x20 and x50 make x70.
  • Two clusters: a Note that touches two separate clusters multiplies both of them.
  • Base game life span: in the base game a Note only lasts for the spin it lands on.

This creates a nice tension. You want cascades to keep going without the Note, so its value climbs, and then you want the last cascade to pull it into a cluster. A Note that keeps doubling but never joins a win pays nothing, which is the price of the mechanic.

Conductor of Death free spins

Bonus symbols trigger three free spins modes, each starting with 10 spins:

  • Bonus (3 Bonus symbols): the entry round.
  • Super Bonus (4 Bonus symbols): starts with one Note Wild already on the board, and no Note begins below x5.
  • Epic Requiem Bonus (5 Bonus symbols): the name the intro screen uses for the top round, which some sources shorten to Epic Bonus. It starts with two Notes on the board, and no Note begins below x10.

In every mode, Notes become sticky. A Note that is not used keeps its cell between spins and doubles again at the end of each spin it survives. Each Bonus symbol that lands during the round adds one more spin.

Stickiness is what makes the bonus so different from the base game. By the end-of-spin doubling alone, a Note that starts at x5 and survives four spins unused is worth x80, and two such Notes in one cluster add together. That is how a 10-spin round reaches the 25,000x cap, and also why many rounds end with large multipliers that never found a cluster.

Conductor of Death bonus buy options

At a 1.00 bet the regular Bonus costs 100 and the Super Bonus 300. The Epic Requiem Bonus is not listed as a direct buy. Its name suggests the 1,000x Requiem option may lead into it, but we could not confirm that, so five Bonus symbols are the only confirmed way in.

The menu is busy, and several options are not explained outside the game. Paperclip does not publish a separate RTP for each buy. Bonus buys raise the cost per round sharply, so the cheapest way to learn what Overture, Mystery and Requiem do is the demo.

Conductor of Death RTP, volatility and max win

The Conductor of Death RTP is 96.00%, a house edge of 4%. Paperclip's own page, Stake's listing and independent databases all give the same figure. It is a fair number, though below the 96.70% to 97.70% offered by some other Stake Engine studios on Stake.

Volatility is reported as high by Stake and BonusTiime, very high by one other site and medium by SlotRanker, which only estimates it. Paperclip leaves the field blank. We use high, the figure Stake lists, and the mechanic agrees: most of the value sits in sticky Notes that survive several spins in the bonus.

The Conductor of Death max win is 25,000x your bet, as the game's intro screen states. Stake tracking sites recorded players reaching the cap within the first day of release, which confirms it is reachable, but those are rare outcomes from a large number of rounds.

Who Conductor of Death suits

Conductor of Death suits players who like a single clear mechanic with a lot of depth: watching a Note climb and hoping it lands in the last cascade. The gothic orchestra theme gives it a stronger identity than most cluster slots.

It is less suited to players who want steady returns, and the long buy menu can be confusing at first. Try the free demo on Stake, or on Paperclip's own game page at paperclipgaming.com, before betting real money. Our Stake review covers the casino.

Our verdict on Conductor of Death

Conductor of Death takes one well-judged idea and builds the whole game around it. Notes that double when they are left out, add together when they meet and stick in the bonus create a real sense of build-up, and the three bonus tiers give clear reasons to want four or five Bonus symbols. The theme and music fit the mechanic well.

The 96.00% RTP is acceptable rather than generous, the buy menu has options that are not documented outside the game, and the maximum bet is unclear. It is a strong cluster slot for high-variance players who keep their stake modest and understand that many Notes will never find a win.
