How to play Ghost Rush

The Ghost Rush slot uses a compact 5×5 grid with cluster pays. Five or more matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically make a win, winning symbols explode, and new symbols cascade in to fill the space.

Two things sit outside the normal cluster rules. Soul-coin prize symbols never form clusters; instead they are collected at the end of the spin. And the Ghost Wild stays on the board when it wins, which is what drives the game.

We could not confirm the bet range from a reliable source, so check the bet panel in the game. With only 25 cells, a five-symbol cluster covers a fifth of the board, so a Ghost that stays put has a good chance of touching the next win.

The board is filled with cartoon knights, wizards, torch-carrying skeletons and coloured ghosts, while a crowned skeleton king on a bone horse waits beside the crypt.

Ghost Rush Ghost Wild and soul-coins explained

Paperclip's rules for the Ghost are short and specific:

  • Wild that never explodes: the Ghost substitutes for every paying symbol and stays on the grid after its cluster pays.
  • Moves as it wins: it collects the souls of the symbols it wins with and moves into one of the cells they leave behind.
  • Growing multiplier: its multiplier rises by one for each cascade it wins in.
  • Several Ghosts: a cluster pays its base amount times the sum of its Ghosts' multipliers, so x6 and x4 Ghosts in one cluster make it pay ten times.
  • Soul-coins: at the end of the spin, each prize coin is collected and multiplied by every Ghost in turn. Paperclip's own example is a prize of 5 with x4 and x6 Ghosts becoming 120.

The coin rule is the important one. Cluster wins add Ghost multipliers together, but coins are multiplied by each Ghost one after the other, so two or three Ghosts with modest multipliers can lift a coin far more than they lift a cluster. Ghost Rush is really a coin game with a cluster grid attached.

Ghost Rush free spins and bonus tiers

Bonus symbols trigger three free spins rounds:

  • Ghost Bonus (3 Bonus symbols): the Ghost from the base game carries over into the round.
  • Super Bonus (4 Bonus symbols): starts with two Ghosts.
  • Epic Ghost Bonus (5 Bonus symbols): starts with three Ghosts. The intro screen describes it as a roaming Ghost that collects souls and grows its multiplier.

Paperclip's page says each round gives 10 free spins and that every Bonus symbol landing during the round adds one more. Ghost multipliers persist and keep growing for the whole round, so a Ghost that wins in an early spin stays valuable until the end.

Because coins are multiplied by every Ghost in turn, the starting Ghost count matters a lot. Three Ghosts in the Epic Bonus multiply each coin three times over, which is where the 25,000x cap comes into play.

Ghost Rush bonus buy options

Ghost Rush has a bonus buy, but the two lists we found do not match, so we show both.

SourceOptions and costs
Stake's game listingEnhancer 1 at 2× bet per spin, Enhancer 2 at 5× per spin, Bonus Buy 1 at 100× bet, Bonus Buy 2 at 500× bet
BonusTiimeExtra Chance 3×, Super Chance 6×, Soul Harvest 250×, Super Bonus 300×, Mystery 500×, Reaper's Harvest 1,000×

The BonusTiime list closely mirrors the menu of Paperclip's Conductor of Death, which may mean the two games share a buy structure, or that the lists were mixed up. Stake's names are generic. Open the buy menu in the demo to see the real prices before you spend anything.

Whichever list is right, the principle is the same: buying skips the base game and raises the cost of each round sharply, and Paperclip does not publish a separate RTP for buys.

Ghost Rush RTP, volatility and max win

The Ghost Rush RTP is 96.00%, a house edge of 4%, according to Paperclip's game page and Stake's listing. The max win is 25,000x your bet, which both sources agree on and the game's intro screen confirms. Stake tracking data showed a result above 23,000x on release day, so the top end is not purely theoretical.

Volatility is less clear. Stake lists medium, BonusTiime says high and Paperclip does not state it. We use Stake's figure. The coin multiplication rule suggests results cluster around small and medium payouts with occasional large spikes when several Ghosts are in play.

Who Ghost Rush suits

Ghost Rush suits players who like a single persistent Wild to follow around the grid and enjoy coin-collection maths. The 5×5 grid keeps it easy to read.

It is less suited to anyone who wants complete information before playing, since the bet range and buy menu are not well documented. The demo on Stake, or Paperclip's own game page at paperclipgaming.com, is the best place to learn it. Our Stake review covers the casino.

Our verdict on Ghost Rush

Ghost Rush has a tidy core idea. A Wild that never explodes, walks into the cells it clears and multiplies every soul-coin in turn gives the game a clear focus, and the bonus tiers simply add more Ghosts, which is easy to understand and powerful in practice. A 96.00% RTP and 25,000x cap are fair numbers.

Its weak points are the patchy public documentation, especially for the bet range, the free spins count and the bonus buy menu. We would recommend it as a medium-variance coin slot to try in demo first, then at a modest stake.
