Le Prechaun slot review
Le Prechaun is Hacksaw Gaming's Irish chapter of the Le series, sending Smokey the raccoon after a pot of gold on a 6×5 cluster pays grid. Wins leave Golden Squares behind for a Rainbow to reveal, and Wilds now mark Position Multipliers that double each time they are used again, all under a 15,000x cap.

How to play Le Prechaun
The Le Prechaun slot uses a grid of six reels and five rows with cluster pays. Five or more matching symbols that touch horizontally or vertically form a win. Winning symbols are cleared, new ones fall into the gaps, and this Super Cascade repeats for as long as fresh clusters appear.
Bets start at 0.05 per spin and slot databases list a top bet of 50, although the limit can differ by region and operator. SlotCatalog measures a hit frequency of roughly 37.8%, which means about one spin in every 2.6 returns something. Many of those hits are small cluster wins worth less than the stake, so the hit rate says more about pacing than profit.
Every winning cluster leaves Golden Squares behind on the positions it used. Nothing happens to them unless a Rainbow symbol is on the grid once the cascades have finished. When it is, every Golden Square flips over and reveals a special symbol. That reveal is where most of the money in Le Prechaun comes from.
Le Prechaun features explained
The reveal can turn up five kinds of special symbol, and they resolve in a set order: multipliers first, then collectors, then the total is paid.
- Coins: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond grades worth between 0.2x and 500x the bet. Diamond Coins hold the top values.
- Green Clover: multiplies the values of the special symbols next to it.
- Gold Clover: multiplies every special symbol on the grid.
- Bag of Gold: collects the values in the 3×3 area around it, including coins, activated bags and pots.
- Pot of Gold: collects every coin, activated bag and pot on the whole grid.
- Epic Rainbow: a rarer version of the Rainbow that reveals special symbols on every grid position, not only the Golden Squares.
The second engine is new to this game. When a Wild is part of a winning cluster, its position is marked as a x2 Position Multiplier. That multiplier applies to any later win that passes through the square, and if another Wild lands on the same spot and wins, the value doubles. Sources list a ceiling of x100. Several multipliers inside one cluster multiply with each other, and they also boost instant coin prizes and clover values. The marked squares act as Golden Squares too, so a Wild-heavy spin can feed both systems at once.
How Le Prechaun differs from other Le games
Most recent Le titles share one of two engines. Le Outlaw turns winning Wilds into revolvers that fire shots at random spots and reveal prizes, with a bonus gamble between its free spins tiers. Le Fisherman and its night-time twin Le Catcher use Golden Squares and a Rainbow, with Buckets and Global Buckets as the collectors.
Le Prechaun takes the Golden Squares route, swaps the buckets for a Bag of Gold and a Pot of Gold, and then adds Position Multipliers that persist and double. That is the real difference. The feature lists for Le Fisherman and Le Catcher describe no Wild-driven multipliers; here a Wild leaves a lasting mark that can lift every later win on that square. The Lucky Charm Bar in free spins also hands out extra multipliers rather than only spins, which gives the bonus a clear build-up. None of the sources we checked mention a bonus gamble, so unlike Le Outlaw, the tier you trigger is the tier you play.
Le Prechaun free spins and bonus games
FS scatters trigger the bonus, and the number you land decides the round. Each tier starts with 10 free spins.
- Arc Adventure (3 scatters): Golden Squares stay on the grid between spins until a Rainbow activates them, and Position Multipliers carry over for the whole round. It is the entry tier.
- Clover The Top (4 scatters): the same rules, but activated Golden Squares stay highlighted afterwards, so the same position can be revealed again on a later Rainbow.
- Shamrock 'N' Roll (5 scatters): the hidden top tier. Golden Squares stay highlighted, the Lucky Charm Bar starts at its highest level, revealed coins are worth at least 1x and scatters can no longer land.
The Lucky Charm Bar fills with bonus symbols. Every fifth one moves it up a level and adds five more spins. Level 1 places two extra Position Multipliers on the grid, level 2 adds three more, and level 3 guarantees a Rainbow on every remaining spin. Reaching the top of the bar is what turns an ordinary round into a big one, because guaranteed Rainbows over a grid full of multipliers is the scenario the 15,000x cap is built around.
Le Prechaun bonus buy options
| Feature | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| BonusHunt FeatureSpins | 3× bet per spin | About five times the usual chance of triggering free spins |
| RainbowRide FeatureSpins | 75× bet per spin | Every spin has a Rainbow or Epic Rainbow; coins worth at least 1x |
| RainbowRide Epic Drop FeatureSpins | 500× bet per spin | Every spin has an Epic Rainbow; coins worth at least 1x |
| Arc Adventure | 60× bet | Direct entry to the 3-scatter free spins |
| Clover The Top | 250× bet | Direct entry to the 4-scatter free spins |
In money terms, at a 1.00 bet Arc Adventure costs 60 and Clover The Top costs 250. The FeatureSpins modes are charged on every spin while they are switched on, so ten RainbowRide spins cost 750 and ten Epic Drop spins cost 5,000. BonusHunt looks cheap, but it still triples the cost of each spin for as long as it runs.
Shamrock 'N' Roll cannot be bought; five scatters are the only way in. Bonus buys raise the cost per round sharply and do not tilt the odds in your favour, and the return of each buy option was not published in the sources we checked.
Le Prechaun RTP, volatility and max win
The standard Le Prechaun RTP is 96.28%, a house edge of 3.72%, and that is the version Stake lists. Hacksaw's own game page names five configurations: 97.52%, 96.28%, 94.29%, 92.28% and 86.31%. Operators choose which one to run, so the figure in the game's information screen is the one that applies to you.
Hacksaw rates volatility at 3 out of 5, and Stake and SlotCatalog both call it medium. That fits the hit rate: wins come often, and the bigger results depend on Rainbows landing over well-stocked grids. It is calmer than most Le games, though medium in Hacksaw terms can still mean long gaps between free spins.
The Le Prechaun max win is 15,000x the bet. Hacksaw, SlotCatalog and Stake's game information table all agree on that, although Stake's descriptive text mentions 10,000x and 12,500x in other places. At a 50 top bet the cap is worth 750,000. Expect to need a high Lucky Charm Bar level, stacked Position Multipliers and a Pot of Gold in the same round to get anywhere near it.
Who Le Prechaun suits
Le Prechaun suits players who like the Le formula but want a little more happening in the base game. The doubling Position Multipliers give Wilds a purpose, and the medium volatility makes it one of the gentler entries in the series. The 0.05 minimum bet keeps the cost of learning the reveal order low.
It is less suited to players who are tired of the Le series, since the grid, cascades and reveal loop will feel familiar. High rollers may also find the 15,000x cap modest next to the 25,000x on Le Outlaw. You can read how we rate the casino we play at in our Stake review.
Our verdict on Le Prechaun
Le Prechaun is one of the more thoughtful additions to Hacksaw's Le series. The Golden Squares and Rainbow reveal are familiar, but Position Multipliers that persist and double give Wilds real weight, and the Lucky Charm Bar turns free spins into a round that builds instead of resetting. The 96.28% RTP version is fair and the medium volatility makes it approachable.
The weak points are a familiar structure, a max win below some of its siblings and RTP versions as low as 86.31% at some operators. If you enjoy reveal-style cluster games and want a Le title that is less punishing than most, it is worth playing at a small stake first.
Overall = 7.6×0.25 + 7.5×0.25 + 7.5×0.2 + 7.5×0.15 + 7.0×0.15 = 7.5. The score rates the game, not your odds of winning.
