Duck Hunters slot review

Duck Hunters is Nolimit City's backwoods scatter pays slot from February 2025, where every winning symbol leaves a multiplier behind that doubles each time the spot wins again. Bombs and xWays push those multipliers up, three free spins modes keep them for the whole round, and the max win is 30,000x.

96.05% is the top configuration; versions around 94.03% and 92.03% also exist. Stake runs 96.05%, the figure on its game page. Some crypto casinos run a separate 16K version with a x16,000 cap.

How to play Duck Hunters

The Duck Hunters slot uses six reels and five rows with scatter pays. You need eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid for a win, and there are no paylines to track. The low symbols are hunting gear such as a beer can, a bottle, a crossbow and a nest of eggs, and the high symbols are four bearded hunting characters.

When a win pays, the symbols are removed and new ones fall in. Every position that held a winning symbol is marked with a x2 multiplier, and each later win on that spot doubles it, up to x8,192. In the base game the marks clear once the spin is finished, so the grid starts fresh every time.

Stakes run from 0.20 to 100 per spin, with lower limits in regulated markets such as the UK. The hit frequency is 17.07%, which means long runs of empty spins are part of the experience.

Duck Hunters features explained

Everything in Duck Hunters serves the multiplier grid. The special symbols either raise the multipliers on certain spots or clear space so that more wins land on them.

  • Wild: substitutes for all paying symbols.
  • xWays: turns into a paying symbol and multiplies its position's multiplier by 2, 4 or 8.
  • Infectious xWays: reveals a symbol, and every matching symbol on the grid grows to the same size. If several xWays land, they all become the same symbol.
  • Bomb: explodes in a 3×3 area, removes the regular symbols there and doubles the multipliers on those positions. Bonus and Wild symbols survive the blast.
  • xTra (Extra Spin): at the end of a winning round you may be offered another spin that keeps all current multipliers. Its price depends on how big those multipliers are, and it is only offered if it costs no more than the win you just had. Bonus symbols cannot land on it.

A Bomb that lands next to a cluster of already doubled spots is the best case in the base game. Most of the time, though, a spin produces one small collapse and stops.

Duck Hunters free spins

Bonus symbols trigger three different free spins modes. In all of them the position multipliers stay on the grid for the whole round instead of resetting, so a spot that reaches x256 early can keep paying for the rest of the feature.

ModeBonus symbolsSpinsUpgrades
Duck Hunt Spins371 random
Hawk Eye Spins482 random
Big Game Spins510All 3

The three upgrades are Upgraded xWays (all xWays become Infectious), Upgraded Bomb (the blast grows from 3×3 to 5×5) and Extra +2 Shots (the Extra Shot symbol gives two spins instead of one). Extra +1 Shot symbols land during the feature and add a spin each.

Nolimit City puts natural free spins at about 1 in 203 spins. Big Game Spins is the mode where the larger wins tend to come from, because a 5×5 Bomb with doubling multipliers that persist can light up a large part of the grid in one go.

Duck Hunters bonus buy options

Outside the UK, Duck Hunters sells direct entry to each free spins mode plus four boosters. The RTP figures are the ones OLBG lists for the 96.05% version.

OptionCostWhat you get
Duck Hunt Spins70× bet7 spins, 1 upgrade (RTP 95.87%)
Hawk Eye Spins200× bet8 spins, 2 upgrades (RTP 96.07%)
Big Game Spins600× bet10 spins, all 3 upgrades (RTP 96.00%)
Lucky Draw235× bet50% Duck Hunt, 25% Hawk Eye, 25% Big Game (RTP 95.96%)
xBet2× bet per spinFree spins about 5 times more likely, Bonus symbol on reel 2 (RTP 96.03%)
Day 2 Spins2.8× bet per spinAll positions start at x2 (RTP 96.04%)
Day 64 Spins90× bet per spinAll positions start at x64 (RTP 96.04%)
Day 1,024 Spins3,000× bet per spinAll positions start at x1,024 (RTP 96.05%)

Lucky Draw costs exactly the weighted average of the three modes (35 + 50 + 150 = 235 on a 1.00 bet), so it adds variance without a discount. Duck Hunt Spins carries the lowest return of the menu, so the 200x Hawk Eye buy is slightly better value per unit of cost. Day 2 Spins is the cheapest way to change the base game, while Day 1,024 Spins puts 3,000x on a single spin.

Every option returns roughly 96% over time, but buys and boosters multiply the cost of each round and can burn through a balance quickly.

Duck Hunters RTP, volatility and max win

The standard Duck Hunters RTP is 96.05%, with 69.62% coming from the base game and 26.43% from features according to OLBG. Lower configurations of about 94.03% and 92.03% exist at some casinos, while Stake's game page shows the full 96.05%.

Nolimit City calls the volatility extreme, while SlotCatalog and Bigwinboard list it as high. We use very high. With a hit rate of about 17% and free spins roughly once every 200 spins, the game relies on rare multiplier chains for most of its return.

The Duck Hunters max win is 30,000x your bet, and the round ends when that cap is reached. Nolimit City puts the odds at 1 in 22 million spins. SlotCatalog recorded a capped 30,000x win on 2 October 2026, bought through Day 64 Spins on a 5 base bet, which shows the cap is reachable but rare. Some crypto casinos run a separate 16K version with a x16,000 cap and a Day 16K buy instead of Day 1,024; the standard game is the one described here.

Duck Hunters sequels and how they compare

Duck Hunters has since been followed by Duck Hunters: Happy Hour in January 2026, listed with a 33,333x max win and 96.07% RTP, and by Duck Hunters 2 in September 2026.

Duck Hunters 2 raises the position limit to x16,384 and the max win to 40,000x, changes the Bomb so it works along a reel, and expands the upgrade pool to six. Its buys cost more (80x to 700x for the free spins modes) and the max win odds drop to 1 in 88 million. The original remains the simpler of the two, with fewer menus and a slightly higher RTP.

Bigwinboard pointed out the similarity to Pragmatic Play's Sugar Rush, which also uses doubling multiplier spots. Nolimit City's version adds Bombs, xWays and boosters that make it a deeper and harsher game.

Who Duck Hunters suits

Duck Hunters suits players who like multiplier-grid slots but prefer a cleaner menu than most recent Nolimit City releases. The three free spins modes are easy to understand, and the boosters give some control over risk.

It is not for players who want frequent wins. Long dry spells are normal and the big outcomes depend on rare combinations. The 0.20 minimum is a sensible place to learn the game. You can read more about where we play in our Stake review.

Our verdict on Duck Hunters

Duck Hunters takes a familiar idea, doubling multipliers on cleared positions, and gives it real depth with Bombs, Infectious xWays and free spins that keep every mark on the grid. The backwoods humour is sharper than some of Nolimit City's cruder themes, and the published buy RTPs make the menu easy to judge.

The downsides are the low hit rate, the long odds on the 30,000x cap and the existence of lower RTP versions. For players comfortable with very high volatility, it is still one of the more readable Nolimit City games, and a good way into the series before trying Duck Hunters 2.

Not confirmed: Volatility: Nolimit City and OLBG say extreme; SlotCatalog and Bigwinboard say high. We use Very high. Lower RTP versions: OLBG gives 94.03% and 92.03% in one place and 92.04% in another. Nolimit City lists only 96.05%. Stake's game page shows 96.05%, so it is not a lower-RTP version; whether Stake runs the standard or the 16K game was not confirmed. Max bet: OLBG's info box says £5 (UK limit) while its game data says 100; we use Nolimit City's 0.20 to 100. Gambling.com lists a £3,000,000 top win and describes features that do not match the provider's rules; we ignored it. The 2 October 2026 max win: SlotCatalog's text says the balance rose by $150,000, its win history lists €133,850.
