How to play Waylanders Forge
The Waylanders Forge slot uses six reels and four rows, and wins pay on all 4,096 ways: matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left count, with no fixed lines to track. Winning symbols are removed after each payout and new ones fall in, so one spin can chain several wins before it stops.
Bets run from 0.10 to 750 per spin, a wide range for any slot. Low stakes make it easy to learn the feature symbols, and the top end is there for high rollers.
Most of the action comes from the special symbols that drop in alongside the regular Norse icons. A plain spin pays a few small ways wins. A spin where a bomb, a Multiplier Wild or Waylander's hammer gets involved can turn a quiet grid into a screen full of Wilds within one cascade sequence.
Waylanders Forge feature symbols explained
The game's intro screen promises seven unique feature symbols. Review sites name and count them slightly differently, so treat the list below as the set most often described rather than an official one:
- Expanding Wild: stretches down its reel to the bottom row, covering every position below it.
- Multiplier Wild: attaches a multiplier between 2x and 1,000x to any win it joins.
- Wild Bomb: explodes into a 2×2 block of Wilds.
- Golden Wild Bomb: the bigger version, leaving a 3×3 block of Wilds.
- Split Symbol: divides a paying symbol in two, which adds ways for that spin.
- Royal Remover: sends lava down the grid to clear out symbols.
- Wild Star: turns every copy of one random symbol into a Wild.
- Max Wild: acts as a Wild and pays the full 80,085x when it connects with a winning symbol, in any game mode.
On top of these, a Mystery Symbol can reveal random symbols across the board, and Hammer Time sees Waylander strike the grid to rain Wilds onto the reels or award a bonus on the spot.
The interplay is what matters. A Golden Wild Bomb that lands next to a Multiplier Wild can turn a 3×3 block into a large multiplied win, and cascades give each new feature symbol another chance to land on the same spin. The Max Wild is the extreme case: rare, but it means the cap is not reserved for the bonus rounds.
Waylanders Forge free spins modes
Free spins are triggered by scatters, and the number you land picks one of four modes:
- Forge Spins (3 scatters): 10 free spins. Each win fills a symbol bar, and when the bar is full the lowest-paying symbol is upgraded to a random better one, so the reels improve as the round goes on.
- Wayfinder's Blessing (4 scatters): 10 free spins in which the multiplier attached to every winning symbol is doubled.
- Mine Shaft Tumble (5 scatters): each win makes a random reel one row taller, up to eight positions, which raises the number of ways as the round builds.
- The Soul Forge (6 scatters): the rarest mode, played on a multiplier grid where each symbol hit doubles the multiplier on that position.
The sources we checked do not give the number of spins in Mine Shaft Tumble or The Soul Forge, and one source reports that extra scatters during a feature add spins, which other reviews do not mention. Treat those details as unconfirmed until you read the in-game rules.
The ladder makes sense in practice. Forge Spins is the round you will see most and it rewards patience, while the two top modes depend on the grid growing or the multipliers stacking up, which is where the largest results come from.
Waylanders Forge bonus buy options
| Feature | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus Enhancer (Extra Chance) | 3× bet per spin | Base spins with a higher chance of triggering free spins |
| Trickster Spin (Powerspin) | 75× bet per spin | A boosted spin with a better chance of special Wilds |
| Forge Spins | 100× bet | Direct entry to the 3-scatter mode |
| Wayfinder's Blessing | 200× bet | Direct entry to the 4-scatter mode |
| Mine Shaft Tumble | 1,000× bet | Direct entry to the 5-scatter mode |
| F U Spins | 2,000× bet | The top-priced spin mode; its exact contents are not described in the sources we checked |
At a 1.00 bet, Forge Spins costs 100, Wayfinder's Blessing 200 and Mine Shaft Tumble 1,000. The Soul Forge cannot be bought; six scatters are the only route in.
Stake Engine publishes the odds of hitting the max win in each mode, and they make the trade-offs clear. In the base game the chance is about 1 in 2 million. With Forge Spins it is 1 in 40,000, with Wayfinder's Blessing 1 in 20,000, with Mine Shaft Tumble 1 in 2,002 and with F U Spins 1 in 276. Multiply cost by odds and the base game, Mine Shaft Tumble and the 3x enhancer all work out at roughly two million bets per max win, while F U Spins needs closer to 550,000. That means the 2,000x mode puts more of its return into the very top result and less into everything below it.
The published maths gives every mode the same RTP, so buying never improves your expected return. It only raises the cost of each round and makes the swings far larger. Buy menus can also be switched off in some regions.
Waylanders Forge RTP, volatility and max win
The Waylanders Forge RTP on Stake is 97.70%, a house edge of 2.3%, which is still high for a modern video slot. That is the figure on Stake's game page, and because the game is a Stake exclusive it is the version you play. Valkyrie's page and several databases quote 98.00% from the Stake Engine maths, but the Stake figure is the one that applies.
Volatility is high by most accounts. SlotCatalog's review text calls it medium-high, while Valkyrie, BonusTiime and other trackers list high. The structure supports the higher label: a big share of the return sits in Multiplier Wilds, the top two free spins modes and the Max Wild, all of which are rare.
The Waylanders Forge max win is 80,085x your bet, the figure printed on the game's intro screen, and it can be paid either by the Max Wild or by a large enough result in the bonus. At the 750 top bet that is a theoretical payout of more than 60 million, though operator payout limits may apply. With odds of about 1 in 2 million per base spin, it is a ceiling to know about, not something to plan around.
Who Waylanders Forge suits
Waylanders Forge suits players who like busy feature sets and high-variance maths, and who want a strong RTP while they chase it. The 0.10 minimum makes it cheap to explore, and four free spins modes give the game more variety than a single bonus on repeat.
It is less suited to players who prefer steady, simple wins. The base game can feel methodical between feature drops, and the bonus buys run up to 2,000x a spin. If you want to see how it plays first, the demo on Stake lets you try every feature with free credits, and our Stake review covers the casino itself.
Our verdict on Waylanders Forge
Waylanders Forge earns its place among Stake's most played slots. The 97.70% RTP on Stake is well above the 96% that most modern slots offer, the seven feature symbols interact in ways that keep cascades interesting, and the four free spins modes each change the maths rather than just adding spins. The Max Wild is a clever touch that makes the 80,085x cap reachable from any spin, however unlikely.
The weaker points are a base game that can drag between features, a theme that looks like many other Norse slots, and a buy menu whose top options cost far more than most players should spend on one round. Played at a sensible stake with the bonus buys used sparingly, it is one of the strongest Stake Engine releases so far.
Overall = 9.0×0.25 + 8.0×0.25 + 8.5×0.2 + 7.0×0.15 + 7.5×0.15 = 8.1. The score rates the game, not your odds of winning.
